Some "Doings" At Cherry Glade Mennonite

The action started at 7:00 A.M. on Saturday (yesterday) at the church house with all the noise connected with felling trees for firewood. Everyone broke at 9:00 for breakfast, and Don B. got everyone that was helping at that time to stand on the bank, Olen B. said a few words, and Don asked our Lead Pastor, Barry, to lead in a prayer.

Even some of the younger ones helped to fill the CAT buckets with firewood to be hauled to the dump trucks lined up to receive the wood.

There was a lot of heavy tugging and lifting to get all that firewood loaded.

Even people like Jim with health problems helped load those dump trucks.

A few of the "older" men like Olen B. ran the high lifts (one machine donated by a non-member Jack), to fill the truck.

That Branden is such a Ham! He was a big help to his Mom (who was in charge of the food) and the other "cooks", that I don't know what they would have done without him! He (with Beth's help) got the trash cans lined up for recycle "bins".

This is Deb - the one in charge of the food. And the ones in the picture below were her helpers (Beth, Sheera, and Filica)

The "burger flippers" were Delmer, Markel and Harold, here talking with Denver and Walter.

I told Kenny he had "the best seat in the house", and he said he cannot sit in the sun to eat, so he found a shady spot by the door. His daughter, Lydia, joined him.

The "younger set" sat at this table. Most of them helped with loading the cut logs.

This is looking out over the group eating at the tables. In the foreground is Doug Mast, and Phebe, with Rachel, and Emma and Ken. Phebe brought all the desserts and helped to set things out and Ken helped with the wood. I think there were about 40 at breakfast and more than 60 for lunch.
