This morning when I got up, Applebutter's chrysalis was almost black. I kept an eye on it all day, and was surprised to see the butterfly had eclosed at about 6:30 this evening when I checked again.
When I first saw it, the wings were still crumpled, and it was just hanging there.
I thought at first it was a girl, but after a while it appeared to be a boy! That makes three boys and one girl so far, and I think the last one (New Kid) is a boy too. It is so cold outside this evening that I decided to keep him in the house overnight, and release him in the morning.
