Yesterday it was quite windy and blustery, but Julia decided she and the boys will "build a snowman", so off they went into the wintery weather in the back yard.
It got almost too cold and windy, so they decided to finish the snowman on the back porch, behind the panels so the wind would not "hit" them so much.
Here are Noah, the snowman, and Asa (with the finished product). Dates for his eyes, a carrot for his nose, slices of apple for his mouth and twigs for his arms.
This morning there was a small break in the weather, so Julia decided to clean off the van, load up and try to leave.
Under the layer of snow there was a thick layer of ice.
Noah wanted to go outside, so the boys waited (impatiently) for Mama to get finished cleaning off the van.
I had planned to go along to Grantsville with them to pick up a few things, and eat lunch with them before they get on the road. This is how the house looked as I was sitting in the van waiting for Julia. We got stuck at the top of our drive (ice under the snow), so I finally got in the driver seat, "rocked" the van back and forth while Julia pushed until we got free, then we headed down the drive.
We got stuck again at the bottom of the drive, so we walked back up the drive with the boys. Markel was home from work by that time, and helped Julia with getting the car back on track, and out on the road. It took some shoveling etc. until it was out on the road and headed towards Route 40.
While Pa and Julia were shoveling and "rocking" the van, the boys got to watch a "show" in the house with Grandma.
Here they walk back down the drive to the van.
And they are off!!! Julia called later and she had gotten gas, both boys were sound asleep, she was on the "on ramp" and on the way home to VA! Quite an eventfull day !!!
